• Vietnam still has to import most of the raw materials for drug production because at present, Vietnam’s chemical and pharmaceutical technology has not been developed in time to meet the demand.
• Vietnam’s import turnover of pharmaceutical ingredients in the first 6 months of 2022 increased slightly compared to the same period last year, of which over 75% of imported pharmaceutical materials and accessories were imported from China.
Supply – finished products
• The industrial production index of the pharmaceutical industry grew strongly in the second quarter of 2022, nearly reaching
growth compared to 2020 when the pandemic had not yet broken out in Vietnam.
• The EU market is still Vietnam’s main import partner, while import turnover
Exports from the US market grew strongly compared to the same period last year.
• People’s post-COVID-19 health care needs will continue to increase due to the needs of epidemic prevention products
• It is forecast that the race to open a new pharmacy chain will stimulate the pharmaceutical industry’s revenue to increase in the next few years.

• Will be negatively affected because the supply of pharmaceutical ingredients may be affected in the long term by the policy
“Zero-Covid” from China.
• There are many risks for pharmaceutical businesses that the drug approval process can continue
stretched.
