VIETNAM WOOD INDUSTRY
 The global wood industry has grown strongly in recent years, and the consumption of wood and wood products has increased sharply thanks to the economic recovery in major consuming countries such as the US and EU. In the period 2012-2016, the global wood processing market achieved an annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.2% and is estimated to reach a CAGR of 9.2% in the period 2016-2020.
 Vietnam’s wood processing industry has become the main export sector, ranking fourth after coffee, seafood and machinery and spare parts. Generally in Q4 / 2019, the concentrated planted forest area across the country was estimated to increase compared to the same period last year. Domestic timber supply plays an important role in creating export products.
 Vietnam has become the leading wood exporter in Southeast Asia and 7th in the world for furniture exports. In Q4 / 2019, export turnover of wood and wood products is estimated to increase compared to the same period in 2018. Wood and wood products are mainly exported to the US market.
 In Q4 / 2019, wood chip production was estimated to be nearly equal to the whole year of 2018, and increased compared to the same period last year. Wood chips are one of the most important export items of Vietnam, in Q4 / 2019, export turnover reached from tens to hundreds of millions of dollars.
 Vietnam’s wood industry has many advantages compared to other countries in the region. With FTAs ​​in force from 2019, the timber industry will enter a new phase with great prospects for export growth.
