MACROECONOMIC
According to the updated report in July 2019, the IMF predicts that the global economy will continue to grow in 2019 and 2020, and the growth in 2019 will decrease compared to the April 2019 forecast.
In the third quarter of 2019, the USD price tended to move closely with the prediction made at the end of last year and quite similar to the same period of 2018. The dollar has fluctuated continuously in the fourth quarter of 2019 but is showing a trend of cooling down compared to the fourth quarter of 2018 and more stable.
The gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2019 is estimated to increase compared to the same period last year.
Generally in the first 9 months of 2019, the index of industrial production (IIP) increased compared to the same period last year.
Generally for the first quarter of 2019, the trade balance continued to record a trade surplus of US $ 1.41 billion. Import and export of Vietnam still depends heavily on FDI inflows.
Vietnam’s participation in free trade agreements in recent years such as AEC, CPTPP, EVFTA … will be an opportunity to boost exports. VIRAC expects Vietnam’s GDP growth in 2019 could reach 7.0%. However, achieving the set goals in 2019 is still challenging.
