VIETNAM FISHERY INDUSTRY

Vietnam has long been a leading producer and exporter of fishery products in the region, along with Indonesia and Thailand. Fishery products exports become one of the most important sectors of the economy. In the first 9 months of 2018, the total output of fishery production increased by 5.9% over the same period in 2017, in which, exploitation reached 2,578.5 thousand tons, aquaculture production increased by 6.5%, export value increased by 6.7% compared to the same period in 2017.
The fishery products processing industry has developed into a spearhead economic sector, a major commodity producing industry, leading the way in international economic integration.
Based on the results obtained in 2017, Vasep predicted the exports would reach over 8.5 billion dollars, increase by 3% compared to the same period in 2017.

Enterprises in the top 10 enterprises having relatively contrary business results. The turnover of some enterprises decreased, while the turnover of other businesses increased sharply. 2017 is a successful year of some companies when the gross profit of some large companies such as Minh Phu, Vinh Hoan continued to grow well while the profit of companies such as Hung Vuong, Viet Thang, An Giang decline.
