VIETNAM CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

While Asian construction industry is showing signs of cooling, typically the slowing economic growth of China has indirectly affected the construction industry. A wide range of industries and raw materials are affected as cement, steel, etc. China occupies a large proportion not only in the construction industry but also in Asia, so the influence of China on the market on construction market in the area is huge. Meanwhile, in Europe and North America, the construction market continued to remain unchanged over the past several years, due to the volatile regional economic situation and unstable recovery.

With an export-oriented economy and export is accounting for a significant portion of 80% of nominal GDP, Vietnam is attracting a large and growing number of foreign investment. With demand for land and industrial factories increasing, this segment will continue to be an attractive investment channel.

Typical construction enterprises belong to 3 groups: (i) housing and industrial construction: Coteccons, Hoa Binh, Deta, Song Da, Vissai, etc (ii) infrastructure construction: Cienco 1, Vinaconex, etc (iii) dedicated construction: Samsung Engineering, Becamex. They all showed positive growth compared to the same period last year. Among the domestic construction firms, Coteccons is a bright spot in terms of revenue as well as profit while being the industry leader. In the top 10 largest companies in the industry, there are Hoa Binh, Delta, etc.
