VIETNAM CHEMICAL INDUSTRY

Chemical industry plays an important role in the economic development, providing input materials for many essential manufacturing industries, for production and consumption such as fertilizers, paints and ink, pesticides, detergents … The chemical industry has 8 product categories. In Q1 / 2019, the export value of the chemical industry accounted for 1.32% of the total export turnover of the whole country.

Regarding Fertilizer and nitrogen compounds: The fertilizer consumption in Q1 / 2019 decreased by 11% compared to the same period of 2018. The fertilizer imports increased by 4.3% in volume compared to the same period of 2018 due to low domestic production , the policy to cut down on production , ..

Regarding synthetic rubber and primary resin: It was estimated that in Q1 / 2019, the whole country produced about xxx thousand tons of plastic resin, the total export of plastic materials in Vietnam rose strongly by 32.6% in volume and 62.1% in value compared to the same period of 2018.

Regarding detergents: In Q1 / 2019, the production of detergents reached xxx.x thousand tons, in which washing powder was still the main product, accounting for the largest proportion thanks to the benefits from the growth of population and per capita income.

Regarding paint and ink: In Q1 / 2019, the chemical paint production reached about xxx.x thousand tons, the ink production reached xxx.x thousand tons. In the future, the paint and ink industry has positive growth prospects.

Regarding pesticides: In recent years, Vietnam’s pesticide market has increased with an average rate of 12% / year. The Estimated value of imported pesticides and raw materials in Q1 / 2019 increased by 23% compared to the same period of 2018.
Regarding basic chemicals: In Q1 / 2019, the basic chemical imports rose 8% over the same period in 2018, of which China was the main import market.

Regarding artificial fear: In Q1 / 2019, the man-made yarn production rose by 13.2% compared to 2018 due to the return of PVText. The man-made fibers accounted for a major proportion in Vietnam’s fiber export and import turnover.
