VIETNAM LIVESTOCK FEED INDUSTRY

Animal feed is an important link for the development of the livestock industry, which is considered a solution to ensure food security worldwide. In 2018, poultry feed production reached the leading position with 41.45% market share, but decreased by 1.9% compared to the previous year.

In the first quarter of 2019, Vietnam’s animal feed production output increased by 5.4% over the same period in 2018 due to increased domestic and foreign enterprises’ investment and production expansion. The value of animal feed consumption in the first quarter of 2019 increased by 30.38% over the same period in 2018.

In the first 9 months of 2019, exports of this commodity increased over the same period in 2018, of which Southeast Asia was the main export market of Vietnam’s animal feed and raw materials, accounting for 38% of the proportion.

According to USDA forecasts, Vietnam’s total feed demand in 2019 will increase by about 3% compared to 2018. In the long term, the forecast of Vietnam’s animal feed market will reach tens of billions of dollars before 2022. and achieve an annual growth rate of 13-15% during 2016-2020.
