VIETNAM NATURAL RUBBER INDUSTRY

Rubber trees are grown mainly in Southeast Asia, Africa and a small part of the Americas. According to the latest estimation of ANRPC, the global natural rubber production in 2018 reached 13.895 million tons, the supply source was forecasted to rise 5.8% compared to 2018. Asia continues to dominate the supply of natural rubber with contribution rate of 90.9% of global volume in 2017. In 2018 the total rubber consumption production was 3.5% higher than 2017, in which natural rubber accounted for the porportion of 47.4%.

According to ANRPC, Vietnam was the country having the highest productivity in manufacturing rubber in the region. The rubber exploitation output was estimated to reach 1,142 thousand tons. Of all the exploited and imported rubber production, the import took the leading porportion, the remaining is to provide for domestic demand. NAtural rubber in Vietnam is mainly used manufacturing tires, gloves, cushions,..

For the whole year of 2018, the average export price of natural rubber exported was 1,338 USD / ton, down by 17.9% compared to the average price in 2017. In 2018, the category of SVR 3L export was offered for sale with Average price decreased by 21.6% compared to 2017 price.

At present, Vietnam is the third country in exporting rubber in the world, only behind Thailand and Indonesia. China continued to be the biggest export market of Vietnam. Despite being the third country in exporting rubber in the world, Vietnam still has to import a huge amount of rubber material due to the unsatisfactory quality of processed rubber although domestic latex production continues to increase, the source is abundant.
