Today Vietnam petrochemistry has very small scale and capacity. At the moment, most of Vietnam refinery activities are supplied by Dung Quat refinery factory, the rest come from Ba Ria – Vung Tau refinery factory with power in about 2,000 barrels/day and does not meet the higher and higher usage demand. Almost products supplied in the market belong to joint venture companies with big foreign corporations. In recent years, Vienam consecutively appear massively refinery factories with the scale of billion USD. Petrochemistry power of Vietnam is able to increase in triple in next 5 years, from 140,000 barrels/day in 2016 to 500,720 barrels/day in 2020 thanks to two new refinery factories Nghi Son (200,000 barrels/day) and Vung Ro (160,720 barrels/day) which are anticipated to be launched in 2018.
