Currently, Vietnam is growing 2 main types of coffee are Robusta and Arabica, therein area for growing Robusta coffee accounts major density with 96% agrarian area. Coffee production yield in the recent years had many fluctuation. In annual crop 2016/17 USDA estimated coffee yield decreased to 27.7 million bags( 60 kg/bag in weight), which has been the lowest level since the annual crop 2012/2013 due to the negative impact of weather. However, in the annual crop 2017/18, coffee yield is anticipated to recover significantly and achieved 28.6 million bags thanks to good weather in recent months. In annual harvest, coffee export was estimated to reach 1.35 million tons, dropped approximately 16.9% compared to previous one by cause of big lean harvest. Nevertheless, import turn-over attained about 3,348 million USD, nearly to previous annual crop because export price increased 30.4%, which compensated the decline due to lean harvest. Therefore, annual crop 2016/17 still was considered as a good harvest for coffee export. Vietnam is the biggest Robusta coffee export country but mainly in raw form which does not bring much added value.
